Dr Tessa Meyer is a specialist anaesthetist with metropolitan anaesthesia who works in private practice in Perth.
Having qualified as a doctor in London in 1987 she continued her anaesthetic training in London and Perth including paediatric specialist training at Great Ormond Street in London and Princess Margaret Hospital in Perth.
She became a Consultant Anaesthetic Specialist at Princess Margaret Hospital and commenced private practice in Perth with Metropolitan Anaesthesia.
She now works soley in private practice with a special interests in anaesthesia for paediatric, ear nose and throat, orthopaedic and eye surgery and endoscopy.
Her aim is to provide as safe, stress free and comfortable anaesthetic as possible.
Dr Meyer is a mother of three who enjoys her family, work and the lovely lifestyle Perth offers.
Pre-operative assessment
Dr Meyer may ring you before your anaesthetic (if necessary) to discuss any issues and will see you in hospital on the day of your surgery. If you have any particular issues such as heart disease, diabetes, have had gastric surgery, are very overweight, very anxious, have had problems with anaesthetics before or would like to make an appointment to see her beforehand please ring metropolitan Anaesthesia on 6267 6200. Please complete the Patient Health Questionnaire as soon as possible in order for you Anaesthetic care plan to be arranged.
Fasting
You should have no food or milk for 6 hours before surgery.
You are able to have clear fluids, so water, black tea or clear apple juice up until two hours before surgery
Children under 12 months of age are able to have food 6 hours, bottle milk 4 hours, breast milk 3 hours and clear fluids before surgery.
