Upon returning from the USA Melissa worked as a Specialist Anaesthetist in public practice at Eastern Health in Victoria and at the Royal Victorian Eye and Ear Hospital for 5 years. In this time, she has regularly anaesthetised for both adult and paediatric populations and enjoyed a broad clinical practice encompassing Ophthalmic, Obstetric, Orthopaedic, Vascular, Endocrine and Plastic surgery specialties in addition to supporting the emergency after hours roster at both hospitals.
Melissa has a keen interest in the welfare of not only her patients but also her colleagues and is a qualified Mental Health First Aid provider. She has served as a Colleague of First Contact and mentor in all of the departments she has worked in to date and endeavours to be a warm and friendly member of your team. Melissa is aware that for many patients the day of surgery can be daunting or intimidating and seeks to make her patients feel reassured and comfortable throughout.
In her spare time Melissa enjoys preparing snacks and finding shoes for her young children and tolerates a level of chaos that is in stark contrast to her peaceful, orderly days at work. She is thrilled to be back on the West Coast and welcomes any updates on all that is new and great about Perth.
