Dr. James Miller

Dr James Miller is a specialist anaesthetist and associate of Metropolitan Anaesthesia in Subiaco and is a fellow of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists.

Dr Miller completed his fellowship in General Anaesthesia with a sub-speciality in obstetric anaesthesia at Joondalup Health Campus, following his specialist anaesthetic training in Perth’s tertiary hospitals. James was then employed as a staff specialist at Joondalup Health Campus for three years before moving into full time private practice. He routinely works within the specialty areas of adult and paediatric orthopaedics, urology, plastics and gender reassignment surgery, dental/maxillofacial, ophthalmology, obstetrics and gynaecology, general and neuro surgery. James also has an interest and is experienced in caring for members of the LGBTQI+ community.

Prior to specialist training James worked as a junior doctor in Sydney and Brisbane.

James earned a Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery from The Australian National University, a Bachelor of Applied Science (Medical Radiation Science) from the University of Sydney and a Bachelor of Commerce (Accounting and Marketing) from the University of NSW.

James is a council member of the WA branch of the Australian Society of Anaesthetists, and a member of the Australian Medical Association.

Before your operation, Dr Miller will review your health history thoroughly, and be in touch via phone or text to discuss the plans for Anaesthesia and pain management, and answer any questions.

James understands that navigating the health system can be challenging and it is important that you understand the costs associated with your care. All costs relating to Anaesthesia will be clearly outlined to you by Metropolitan Anaesthesia before your procedure.
