Dr Butler completed his undergraduate medical studies at UWA and graduated in 1993.
His first anaesthetic position was in UK 1995. His anaesthetic training was mostly undertaken in Perth working in all of the major teaching hospitals, apart from a year in New Zealand.
Dr Butler started as a Full time Anaesthetic Consultant at Fremantle Hospital in 2003.
While at Fremantle Hospital he has been involved in teaching Specialist anaesthetic registrars as well as other junior doctors and nurses.
He has a special interest in Acute Pain Management and was the director of the acute Pain Service from 2006 to 2009. He remains involved with the acute Pain Service although He now works At Fremantle part time.
He is married with two children at primary school so his outside interests are trying to keep fit anyway he can and spending time with his kids.
