He completed his undergraduate medical studies at UWA and graduated in 1993.

His first anaesthetic position was in UK 1995. His aneasthetic training was mostly undertaken in Perth working in all of the major teaching hospitals, apart from a year in New Zealand.

He started as a Full time Anaesthetic Consultant at Fremantle Hospital in 2003.

While at Fremantle Hospital He has been involved in teaching Specialist anaesthetic registrars as well as other junior doctors and nurses.

He has a special interest in Acute Pain Management and was the director of the acute Pain Service from 2006 to 2009. He remains involved with the acute Pain Service although He now works At Fremantle part time.

He is married with two children at primary school so his outside interests are trying to keep fit anyway he can and spending time with his kids.

Payment Options

Out of Pocket Expenses/Gaps/Co-payments

Out of pocket expenses / Gaps / Co-payments, are amounts payable by the patient over and above any payments made by the health fund or Medicare. The Out of pocket expenses / Gap / Co-payment amount will vary depending on the anaesthetic fee and your health fund/Medicare rebate.

Out of pocket expenses have risen because the Commonwealth Government has not indexed Medicare rebates adequately for the last 25 years.

Health Fund rebates are only available on Inpatient services (ie. In hospital service)

Outpatient services (i.e. Non hospital services) attract only a Medicare rebate (NO health fund rebate)

Medicare rebates are applicable for both Inpatient and Outpatient services

Simplified Billing

If the Doctor chooses to charge no out of pocket Expense, Metropolitan Anaesthesia will submit the account directly to the health fund & Medicare on the patient’s behalf.

Once the account is paid, the health fund will send a copy of the statement of benefits to the patient advising what items and fee have been paid to the Doctor.

Patients without private health insurance (uninsured) / Patients with overseas insurance / Patients with no Australian Medicare (incl. Reciprocal Medicare Cover)

Patients who are uninsured, overseas patients or with no Australian Medicare (Incl. Reciprocal cover) are required to pay the full Anaesthesia fee before their anaesthetic. 

An estimate of fees will be provided to the patient at the soonest availability and time permitting, payment is required at least 7 days prior or no later than 1 day prior to surgery.

Patients having Cosmetic or Elective Surgery

Patients undergoing cosmetic surgery or procedures not covered by Medicare or if the surgical item number is on the health fund Item number Exclusions lists, payment for the full or part Anaesthesia fee is required prior to your anaesthetic.

An estimate of fees will be provided to the patient at the soonest availability and time permitting, payment is required at least 7 days prior or no later than 1 day prior to surgery.

Payment can be made via BPAY (the BPAY details appear on the bottom of estimates and invoices provided to patients), credit card over the telephone, EFT or cash in our office which is located at 6/1 Station Street Subiaco.
